God's love is holy, and He will never, ever, turn away from us.
He does not judge us and will not punish us, (at least in the way we understand judgment and punishment.)
The properties of sin are very different from the properties of holiness.
The inability of oil and water to mix provides a great example of how different materials, with diverse properties, actually repel each other.
Without the application of a detergent, oil can never combine with water.
The same is true of sin and holiness.
In the case of salvation, the blood of Jesus acts as a detergent, providing a catalyst for our sin to be cleansed and become soluble in Holiness.
** Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
That is why we thank God for providing a way for us to enter into the presence of holiness. Because, without Jesus... our nature would repel holiness, what we might call judgment or punishment but it will be because of our own "free will" to reject Jesus' gift of salvation.
